What to expect from CL MediCall Aid

Here at CL Medicall Aid, not only is it our aim to assist you with obtaining your medical report, but we want to help reassure you and put you at ease throughout the process. We understand that this can be a difficult or unusual experience for you, which is why we’re here to answer any queries or concerns you may have, to help get you through the process smoothly.

How do I go about getting an appointment?

You can book yourself an appointment here on our website, or you can contact us and we will arrange an appointment for you.

Your appointment

Once your appointment has been booked we will send a letter to your home address, this will list the details of your appointment and anything you may be required to bring with you on the day.

So that you don’t forget about you’re appointment, we will send you two reminders via text and email in the seven days leading up to your appointment. Your final reminder will be sent to you two days before your appointment.

Please note:
Your medical expert will only be able to report on the events of the accident you have been involved in and any injuries caused as a result. Unfortunately they will not be able to assist you with any injuries that were not resulting from your accident. If you have any additional injuries or illnesses that you feel require medical attention, we would advise that you contact your GP – but, please also remember to inform your medical expert of such injuries or illnesses so that they can include it in your medical report.

At this moment you will only be required to attend one appointment.

What to expect at the appointment

Your appointment will last between 15 – 20 minutes. You will be required to present a valid form of photographic ID, such as a driver’s license or passport. You may be requested to complete a medical questionnaire before your appointment.

During your appointment, your medical expert will ask you about the following:

  1. Accident details
  2. Injury/Symptom details
  3. Domestic lifestyle
  4. Employment position/Education
  5. Social and Leisure activities
  6. Past medical history

Depending on your injuries you may also be physically examined so please arrive in comfortable clothing. If the expert feels it is necessary and appropriate, you may be asked to remove clothing for a more thorough examination.

Please note:
• The expert is not seeing you to advise you on your condition or to provide any treatment
• The expert will provide a medical report, which will detail a prognosis and/or any recommendations
• Please remember, it is important to provide the expert with as accurate information as possible to help us get you the best possible outcome.

After your appointment

Once your appointment has ended the medical expert will continue to complete the medical report for you. You will receive a copy of the medical report up to 5 working days after your appointment. Depending on your preferred method of contact, you will receive an email or text once we have received the medical report from the medical expert. If there are any delays on the above, we will update you of this as soon as we are made aware.

Reviewing the medical report

Once we receive your medical report from the medical expert, we will review your report to a high standard; checking for any grammatical errors or other inaccuracies that we are able to identify. If we require any further changes or amendments to be made to your report, we will send this back to the medical expert and update you on our requested changes.

Once completed we will upload the medical report onto the Official Injury Claims (OIC) portal, where you will have the opportunity to review the report yourself. Please review this carefully, checking for any factual errors, such as

  1. Social and Leisure activities
  2. Past medical history
  3. Social and Leisure activities
  4. Past medical history

If you notice any factual errors on the report then please don’t worry – you can challenge this using the Official Injury Claims (OIC) portal. We will then pick up your request and send this to the medical expert on your behalf.

Please note: you cannot request changes to the expert’s opinion such as the prognosis.

What to expect if amendments are required

If we requested the amendments, we will upload the amended report onto the OIC portal for you to review. If you requested the amendments, you will receive a confirmation email/text once we have sent your request off to the medical expert.

The medical expert is only obliged to correct factual inaccuracies. Any other amendment requests will be completed at the discretion and judgement of the medical expert. We cannot guarantee that all requests will be accepted and amended by the medical expert. It can take up to 15 working days from us sending the request until you’re provided with the amended report. If there are any further delays we will update you accordingly. As soon as the report has been amended we will review this to make sure the amendments have been updated. We will then send you an email or text, advising that the updated report has been uploaded to the OIC portal for you to download and review.
